History

The idea for the contest «Ideal Eurovision» emerged in early 2022, during the peak of that year's Eurovision season. Mairan Osterdahl and ESC Niels took on the task of organizing the 2022 contest. The broadcast took place on Leonid Polishchuk's YouTube channel, where he also served as the host. Initially, it was planned for the semifinals to be streamed on the same channel, but due to time constraints, the decision was made to announce the Semifinal results without a show, via Leonid Polishchuk's Telegram channel.

On March 16, 2022, it was announced that «Ideal Eurovision 2022» would take place in April. The contest faced delays due to Leonid Polishchuk's limited availability caused by martial law in Kyiv, his hometown. The blogger’s creative activities were temporarily halted, despite the continued operation of his Telegram channel and the contest's development. The Allocation Draw for countries also took place on March 16, 2022.

On March 18, 2022, the contest team officially unveiled the design for the Finalists announcement table. Voting for the Second Semifinal began on March 21, while voting for the First semifinal began on March 22. The Second semifinal voting started first due to a delay in Azerbaijan's entry release. Voting closed on March 28 at 23:59 Kyiv time.

On March 29, 2022, the running order for the Grand Final performances was announced. Voting for the Grand Final was open from March 30 to April 2, 2022. Production on the Grand Final show took a long time; on April 8, 2022, the organizers announced that the Grand Final was still in progress. The final took place on April 23 at 20:00 Kyiv Time. Ukraine's representative Alina Pash won the Grand Final with 434 points for the song «Tini Zabutikh Predkiv». Although Ukraine did not win the jury vote (Jury winner was S10 from The Netherlands ; Ukraine was 2nd), the country secured 189 points from the juries and 245 points from the televote.

«Hello everyone, thank you to all who watched today’s final of Ideal Eurovision 2022!!! I’m so glad you enjoyed it; this project exhausted me so much that I don’t want to do anything for now, hahaha. So I’m not sure what I’ll do next or when the next final will take place. I don’t even feel like making logos», said ESC Niels, the contest's chief editor.

On April 10, 2024, the broadcast of «Ideal Eurovision 2022» was rebroadcast on the contest's official YouTube channel.

Design

The design for «Ideal Eurovision 2022» was also developed by ESC Niels. The concept for the contest's main logo was inspired by the logo of Leonid Polishchuk's YouTube channel, and the design was created in a similar style. All other design elements were crafted to align with the style of the original «Eurovision 2022» contest. Several variations were proposed for the Grand Final scoreboard.
